Historic Roots,
Modern Food
Aubrey and Nona Lankford established Lankford Grocery & Market in 1937 as a mom-and-pop grocery store in Houston's 4th Ward/Freedmen's Town area.
In the early 1980s, their daughter, Eydie Lankford Prior, inherited the family business. Eydie and her Husband, Deryl "Cotton" Ridenhour transformed it into the full-service restaurant that it is today. We no longer sell groceries, but we do offer the best fresh-made burgers and milkshakes in Houston (we're proud to have been featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and on the Texas Bucket List).
Lankford's continues to be a family-owned business, proudly run by 3rd generation Lankford family members Paul and Jessica Prior. We are excited to grow Lankford's while carrying on the family legacy.
